Enjoy Yourself at Tidelands Park

A Relaxing Getaway in Coronado

Think for a moment of that special park that brings back memories of your parents, family and friends, relaxed around the picnic table, barbequing delicious food, while you played and laughed until the sun went down. Tidelands Park is that park for many Coronado residents. It’s a park with unforgettable views and a number of things for the family to do. I decided to take a walk along the Silver Strand Bikeway in Coronado, a 9 mile section of a bike path that surrounds San Diego called the Bayshore Bikeway.

Along the path is this jewel of a Park. As I entered I was absolutely drawn to the view from the sandy beach area. It looks out to the San Diego Bay, numerous boats, paddle boarders, kayakers and the Coronado Bridge. To the East you’ll find impressive views of the Downtown San Diego skyline. As I continued my relaxing stroll, I stopped to watch talented skaters grind away in the Coronado Skate Park. Over my shoulder, a number of people were setting up their canopies and preparing their barbeques in the picnic area while the children took advantage of the playground located in the center.

In the distance are four baseball fields for “Little League” and one large field that is reserved for organized events such as weddings, company functions or family reunions. As I explored the vicinity of the park and worked myself toward Ferry Landing, I felt truly fortunate and excited to have run across this park for my very first time.

It’s one of those parks where childhood memories are made and good times are to be had. I can honestly say that my first visit will not be my last. If you are visiting San Diego or Coronado Island , I highly recommend visiting this park.
