The Port of San Diego Receives Reward

The Green Port Program

An environmental award was given to the Port of San Diego’s Green Port Program at the 4th annual Work Boat Environmental Award in New Orleans on Nov 30th, 2011.

The Green Port Program includes all communities connected to the San Diego Bay including Coronado, Downtown San Diego, Chula Vista, National City and Imperial Beach. Many of the Port of San Diego’s tenants including Coronado Home and Coronado Condo residents are all teaming up to become greener.

The award category is for government agencies and businesses that show effective environmental process initiatives and well as exemplify innovative. The Port of San Diego’s Green Port Program has a purpose of reducing their environmental impacts as well as increasing energy efficiency of business around the bay. The program got first place in the category of “Comprehensive Environmental Management Plan”.
